Starfinder: Wildlifist

Starfinder offers a lot of diversity in character concepts thanks to its mixing of class, theme, and archetype. While the Xenoseeker looks to find new cultures and civilizations across the stars, the theme focuses on intelligent races in the outer galaxy. Starfinder needed a theme that looked at the animals and plantlife of its own system, the Wildlifist theme offers just that.

Theme Description

You are a wilderness master with a passion for nature. Whether you’re studying life sciences, teaching others about fauna and flora, a hunter, or just more at peace away from technology; you use the animals and plantlife to enrich your life.

Abilities

Theme Knowledge (1st)

You’re trained to handle animals and survive in uncultivated regions. Reduce the DC to identify an animal, plant, vermin using Life Sciences by 5. You also reduce the DC to handle an animal using Survival by 5. You do not gain an ability adjustment, instead, both Survival and Life Science are class skill for you; if the skill is already a class skill you instead gain a +1 bonus to that skill’s checks.

Animal Companion (6th)

At level 6 you can choose and instantly form a bond with an animal, without cost or roll. (The animal must be CR 4 or less and requires GM approval.) [See Creature Companion rules in Alien Archive 3 for companion details and feats.]

If you already have a creature companion, you may either replace the current companion or graft a new ability onto the companion.

Nature Provides (12th)

Your innate knowledge and understanding of how to survive in the wild reaches new peaks. You reduce the DC to live off the land using Survival by 5 and reduce the DC to craft medicinals using Life Sciences by 5. Any medicines crafted are plant and animal based and true to nature, not requiring any special equipment to craft.

Civil in the Uncivilized (18th)

Up to twice per day you may spend time appreciating nature for 10 minutes to recover 1 RP. This time may be spent grooming or attending to your animal companion, meditating in from urbanized areas, or hunting/fishing. This doesn’t count as resting to regain Stamina Points.
