Intended as a dark mirror parody of the DC Comics character Wonder Woman, Cleave Edge is a tongue-in-cheek foe suitable for most any Fate Core superhero game.

When Roger Stevenson’s plane crashed on a small, uncharted island it was not only a collision of metal and earth, but a metaphorical collision of two worlds. The test pilot was taken as a prisoner by the residents of the land: Amazonians who had been magically imprisoned by their sisters for an attempted uprising. With the crash landing, the spell was broken, as was the ignorance that the Amazonians were alone in the world.
Wouldbe queen Glauce sensed opportunity in gaining the technology of Stevenson’s world and marrying it to their own magic and crafting. Thinking this “United States” was the relative size and population of her native archipelago and that all its people would be as weak (relatively speaking) as the test pilot she summoned her finest warrior, Cleantha, and charged the soldier with subjugating this new realm and acquiring its wealth.
To aid in the warrior’s sole victory, Cleantha was given a mythic great-axe, once wielded by Penthesilea. Cleantha’s natural strength and toughness was enhanced by spells. Fortified by all the knowledge they could pry and understand from Roger Stevenson’s brain, the Amazonian set out on a raft from their small island in the direction of North America.
It was a difficult voyage and when a storm finally destroyed the raft, the warrior was forced to swim the remaining 150 miles. She finally embarked on the shores of Miami beach where she was immediately greeted with the words, “nice cleavage!” Thinking the stranger was speaking of her axe, she agreed and gave the young man a closer inspection of her blade. That inspection proved fatal for the male and struck a panic along the beach.
Cleantha took the sobriquet of Cleave Edge to heart. It would be her name while in “Man’s World.”
Upon seeing even the size of Miami, Cleave Edge knows her leader severely underestimated the battlefield. Rather than return unvictorious, the Amazonian does all she can to undermine the powers that be, and sides with warlords and terrorists to help weaken the overall populous. This sometimes means working with males—which she finds detestable but necessary for her mission.
It has been five years since Cleave Edge was introduced to America, and vice versa. In that time she has gained information, allies, and enemies. But so much of our world is still strange and new to her; a frustration she uses to hone her battle rage. And now she has set her sharpness on the city of the PCs. Will they be able to kick Cleantha’s axe?
