Fate & Fortune Cookies

It’s become easier than ever to have items custom-made. When I discovered the custom-made fortune cookie business, I thought of how I might be able to apply that to gaming. Most of my gaming groups tend to eat dinner at the start of the game; why not incorporate the fortunes into dessert. This way, the game would immediately be impacted by said “fortune.” Thus, the Fate & Fortune cookie idea was born. (Note: I have not actually attempted using this idea in real life.)

Plot-Affecting Fortunes

1. Do not upset the penguin.
2. The curse shall fall upon your shoulders.
3. A treasure quickly gained will soon be lost.
4. This fortune is not for you.
5. You think that it is a secret but it never has been.
6. The object you seek will be behind the second door.
7. Your first encounter will return to haunt you.
8. The past is in your future.
9. A package of value will arrive soon.
10. Only death will rescue you.
11. The man who sits behind the desk is not your friend.
12. An ill wind will blow from the west.
13. What once was banished will return again.
14. A death will take place and a betrayal shall soon occur.
15. You have one hour to find the antidote.

Fate Game Effect Fortunes

1. Lose a Fate point.
2. Gain a Fate point.
3. Add 1 to a roll of your choice.
4. Subtract 1 from your next roll.
5. Add 1 to your next roll.
6. Give to GM. Subtract 1 from their roll.
7. Take 1 less point on stress track on next “hit”.
8. Take 1 additional point on stress track on next “hit”.
9. Remove a mild or moderate consequence.
10. Gain a moderate consequence during this session (work with GM).
11. Gain a free stunt for the current session.
12. Give a player one of your Fate points.
13. Take a Fate point from a player.
14. One of your Aspects will be compelled right now.
15. Make an observation roll right now, do you notice something different?
