Pathfinder Character: Cherry Jubilee

One of the things I’m doing as I plan my move to the Pacific Northwest is to prepare myself for finding a gaming group. One of the easiest ways I’ve found that leads me to players is to determine what the more ubiquitous systems are and join groups that play that. Then, as friends are made, other games of other systems may be introduced. Pathfinder appears to be one of the games of choice and it’s been a while since I’ve engaged in a classic dungeon-crawl. So, one of my potential characters (using Pathfinder Society rules/restrictions) is the gnomish bard, Cherry Jubilee.

History

Cherry Jubilee (born Cheri Jelbeline, but changed for stage purposes) began her life in Tiven’s Reed; a waypoint city in the nation of Katapesh. A childhood amongst the price-gouging gnomes instilled her with a love of money a halfling could appreciate. During her adolecense she began to write songs about the various travellers passing through, often making up their names and backstories. She had a talent for music and wanted to turn it into a craft, singing the exploits of real adventurers.

At the young age of 46, she left her hometown and traveled west to Absalom, writing new melodies and learning new skills. A particularly useful skill was the art of gambling, allowing her to accrue additional funds without having to resort to any boring duties. Cherry much prefers to play cards and sing for her meals rather than perform anything domestic. Unfortunately, while she knows both when to hold ’em and when to fold ’em, the young bard often lacks the wisdom to know when to walk away or run. She may sometimes find herself poorer than when she started, but not deterred.

Upon reaching Absalom, Miss Jubilee auditioned and was accepted by the Pathfinder Society and found a calling within the Liberty’s Edge faction. She has spent three years in training and awaits her Confirmation.

Cherry Jubilee is cheery, yet stubborn—once she puts her mind to a task it’s difficult to sway her. Rarely is the bard not humming a song or plucking at her lute. Some say the only times she stops making noise is when she’s sleeping. Her bunkmates will argue that, noting she talks and murmurs in her sleep, too. Unlike many gnomes, Cherry doesn’t often engage in practical jokes or pranks, preferring to skewer with wordplay.
