Starfinder Character: Dirge

If you’ve been following my (now defunct) Facebook Page you may have noticed a number of Starfinder posts and links. I’ve been pretty excited about this game as space fantasy is one of my preferred genres. In preparation for a non-Society game, I’ve created my first primary character, the android mercenary soldier, Dirge.

History

Dirge was originally created as a Drow simulacrum to reenact the ancient battles on Golarian. Upon receiving anima, he viciously slaughtered anyone who stood in his way as he escaped the arena of the rich, grabbing a security guard’s gun along the way. Once the android finally had snuck aboard a cruiser and made his way to deep space he was able to calm himself and realize exactly what he was. In defiance, he scarred the right side of his face, revealing the metal beneath.

Possibly due to old Drow reenactment programming, the android revels in destruction and favors large explosions and disintegrations. His soul, however, is fascinated by the burial rituals and funerary music of other cultures. For this reason he calls himself Dirge. The soldier hires himself out as a mercenary in order to eat and recharge, but is Spartan and has little desire for creature comforts when his credits could be better spent towards building an arsenal.

The android joined the Starfarer Society because it keeps him on the move, allows him the opportunity to destroy, and he contributes to the society by indulging in his hobby of studying death rites.

Dirge views bio-mechanical life as the pinnacle of evolution, being a perfect marriage of technology and nature. He treats drones and animals much the same, seeing them as little more than pets or obstacles; but he does not like those who abuse these “mindless creatures.” Other star-faring races are inferior, but not without use, though he appreciates cyborgs as they have the “right idea” and are rising above their limitations as pure meat-sacks.

For Dirge, the only thing better than firepower is MORE firepower.
